JANUARY 2009

The first month of this new year, has Luke and Mommy pretty much under house arrest. With the cold and sometimes bad weather, I'm just not comfortable getting out with Luke and my belly. So during this month, I have tried to capture our little man in his silliest moments.

Here he is testing his "COOL-NESS" by wearing his shades on the back of his neck. However, they aren't actually his shades. They belong to Mr. Potato Head.

Even though he is now almost 17mos. old, he still loves to play in his Bumbo chair. This chair was great for when he was really little because we would sit him in it to help strengthen his neck muscles (see 2mos. old photo to the right). Now he just LOVES to climb in and out of it - and try to do head-stands in it.

Luke definitely loves his Daddy!!!! When Marc is at home, the two of them are pretty much attached at the hip. Here are the two of them watching a little TV.

Luke definitely has a feminine side to him. He loves to carry this purse of mine around.

Bathtime is still all fun and games. Luke's newest trick is to roll over and lie on his back. While on his back he loves to kick and splash - I think he's going to be a backstroker. (*Note* I censored the frontal nudity)

After bathing he loves to dry off with his Shark towell.

FIRST SNOW DAY

Today, January 27, 2009, is the first SNOW DAY of the season. So, of course, we had to take advantage of it. We all got bundled up and headed down to the beach. Not sure if Luke really knew what to make of it. He walked around - fell a couple of times, but really wasn't in to the snowball fight that Daddy tried to start.

We all look forward to more days like this that we can get out and play and enjoy together as a family.

23 WEEKS - OVER HALF WAY THERE!!

Just an update on the size of my belly. I went to the doctor last week, and everything is looking good. I still feel great as far as my pregnancy is concerned, but am currently battling a pretty nasty chest cold.

A DAY TO REMEMBER IN AMERICAN HISTORY

January 20, 2009

Today is a day in American history that will be remembered forever, and some thought would never happen. The United States of America, swore into the Presidential Office, the first African-American President - Barack H. Obama.

Even though we live less than 100 miles away, and didn't make the trek to experience this momentous occasion in person, we did, however, watch it all on TV. Rather than standing in the below freezing weather, we chose to observe it from the warmth of our home.

Here is Luke standing in front of the TV as the new President is sworn into office.

Now, Luke is totally engrossed in President Obama's Inaugural speech.

Luke, himself being born on the Sixth anniversary of another significant date in American History, is overwhelmed by what all this incredible day means.

ONE COOL DUDE
WISHING EVERYONE A
HAPPY NEW YEAR

IF ONLY I WERE TALLER

Ah-ha, this works just fine.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED

Again, I don't think the reason you should NEVER leave a child unattended, is for their safety... it's for your own SANITY. I'm never afraid that Luke's going to get hurt, but I'm always worrying about my house being destroyed.

This photo illustrates the destruction that occurs when a 15 month old empties out his dresser.

ALREADY WORKING TOWARDS A CAREER AS A PRO BASKETBALL PLAYER

A DAY AT THE BEACH

On the Sunday between Christmas and New Years, it was warm enough to venture outside. So, we took advantage of it and took Luke down to the beach so he could swing. It's so funny to see him in the swing now compared to the first time we put him in it last year when his little head didn't even come up above the top of the seat. Needless to say, he loves to swing. He just giggled the whole time. After swinging, we let him go exploring. He just walked everywhere...you know that's his most favorite thing to do. He loves to walk on new surfaces - it's a challenge for him to master his balance. And now that he is somewhat running, the sand was a great surface for when he gets ahead of himself and crashes to the ground.
