TO NAN YVETTE....FROM MAX

Dear Nan Yvette,
I know that a couple of weeks ago, you got to see my older brother again,
and you got to meet my younger brother.  I'm so jealous...I never got to meet him...well someday.
I overheard Mommy and Daddy talking today, saying that you might be coming to heaven soon.  I had to leave them and come here myself two years ago this Friday, and I know they were sad that I had to go so soon after they met me.  I also know they'll be sad when you come here.  But one thing I'm positive that will make them feel better, is knowing that we'll be together and you'll take care of me.  Well, I'm assuming you'll take care of me.  Even though I was quite a handful in my short 3 weeks, I'm much better behaved now, so it won't be too hard for you.

I so look forward to seeing you again and giving you a big hug and kiss!!
I know you're making that cry face that Daddy always teases you about while Uncle Doug is reading this to you...so stop!

Love you and see you soon,
Your Grandson,
Max

NOT SURE HE'S A FAN

Last Friday, Dr. Wiley gave the go ahead for Grey to start eating solids.  Well, actually, I had already given him some rice cereal about two weeks ago...once.  Starting this past Saturday, he has now had cereal twice a day.  His opinion of it is still the same today as it was a few weeks ago.

FALL IS IN THE AIR!!

It's almost here... my favorite time of year.

Two of my favorite things...my little man and red geraniums.

Loved the shadows.

My new boots.

Cool, crisp air...turtleneck sweaters...vibrant reds, oranges and golds.
CAN'T WAIT

MMM...DIRT

As I came around the corner to snap this moment, Luke had just tasted dirt.
Do you think he needed the calculator to calculate dirt to spit ratio?

RAINY DAY SATURDAY

Yesterday, here in Central Virginia, was a chilly rainy day.  Actually, from all the football we watched, it looked like it was raining all over the country.  Anyway, due to the weather we were inside all day doing much of nothing.

Grey has found his feet this week, so that was very entertaining for him.

Luke was kind enough to share his Fireman's hat with his little brother.

Luke was completely fascinated by a grasshopper that had attached itself to his bedroom screen door.  So we had to go outside to get a closer look.

The weather seems to be getting sunnier today, so hopefully we'll get outside.

COULD IT BE TIME?

Yesterday afternoon, I put Luke's new Potty in the bathroom and showed him how to sit on it.  Later on in the day, he would just go in there and sit down.  Could he be ready to start potty training?

CHECKUP TIME

Yesterday was Doctor Checkup day for the boys.
Luke for his 2yr, and Grey for his 4mos.
Grey weighed in at 13lbs. 5oz. (13%) and is 25.75" long (71%)
Luke weighed in a 23lbs. 5oz. (5%) and is 34" long (36%)

Dr. Wiley is very happy with both boys progress.  We discussed our concerns of Luke's lack of vocabulary, but he told us not to worry.  He definitely understands language, and uses it, we just can't decipher all of it yet.  He did seem to be a little concerned with Grey's weight gain.  He's only in the 13%, but he has gained 2lbs. since his last visit at 2mos., so we'll keep an eye on it.  He did give the go ahead for Grey to start eating solids.  Rice cereal at first and then Stage 1 Fruits and Vegetables.  Dr. Wiley's positive this will up his weight.
I guess "Chunk" isn't as fitting as we thought.
The appointment ended on a loud screaming note.  Grey had to a big round of vaccines - three shots and one oral.
He was not happy AT ALL, and took quite a while to calm down.  He also had a fever last night, which is to be expected, but is all fine and dandy this morning.
We go back next month for Luke's flu shot,
then back in November for Grey's 6mos. checkup.

No wonder the first year of a baby's life goes by so quickly.
When it's broken down into the chunks of time
between all the doctor's visit - it just FLIES by.

WINDWOOD COVES FALL FLING '09

Last night was our annual neighbor-
hood, Fall Fling.  We also have a Spring Fling, but we missed that one this year, due to Chunk's arrival.  Basically, it's a big pitch-in, so we all eat, sit around and visit with all of our friends, listen to music, and play games.  Most of the games are for the kids, but this year, adults were included also.  When we first arrived, Luke got to catch up with some of his friends that he hasn't seen for a couple of months.  The Lefevere kids were first on the list.  Dylan is 9 months older than Luke, and Morgan is 10 months younger.  It looks like Luke and Morgan really "like" each other, but Dylan doesn't seem to be too happy about the relationship.
Luke also got to say hi to Leo Nolan.  Basically, these three boys - Luke, Leo and Dylan are going to have the run of the beach next summer with Morgan and Grey trying to catch up.
Grey also got to say hello to an old friend, Aly Judy.  I'm sure he has missed our summer helper.
After everyone had eaten, the games began.  First up was a pinata.  Luckily, Luke was the first to go, because two kids after him, and candy was flying.
Luke snatched up all the M&M's.
Eryn Judy, Taylor Myers, and Aly Judy are always there for me to help with Luke and Grey.
Miss Lilly and Luke are also becoming really good friends, now that she is staying with her grandparents Bob and Arlinda Kesock.
A little while later, it was time for the Cake Walk.  Luke LOOOOOOVED the cake walk.  He watched everyone, and new that he needed to stand on a number, and then walk around the numbers when the music was playing.
During the "Kids" round, he got the feel of things with Aly's help.

When they did the "Adult" round, he was on a mission by himself.  He just kept walking in a circle, stepping on all the numbers...and then he landed on #4.  And he WON!!!  The Cake Walk was definitely a hit with little man Luke.

BED HEAD

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY LUKE!!!

I can't believe, it's now been two years since I gave birth to two very tiny and very fragile little boys. How different would our lives be, if we still had them both with us? Would their little brother Grey even be here?
Luke is our shining light in sometimes sad times. His smile just makes our hearts sing every time he shares one with us.  Today was a day filled with many smiles.  Today was the day that our baby turned two.
Before the party festivities  began, we headed down to the lake to release two white balloons in honor of Max. Covered with notes of love, we watched them soar high to the heavens.

As we awaited the arrival of our many friends, Luke was kind enough to take his picture with Mommy.
We also hung out outside where Luke eyed his presents with anticipation and preoccupied himself with some serious play.

Due to Luke's obsession with the Disney Pixar Movie
"Cars"
the theme of the party followed suit.

He LOVED his cake...not for the flavor, but for the toys that were on it.  He really had no interest in blowing out the candles, he just wanted to play with the race car and the tow truck. However, with a little coaxing from Daddy and his friend Lily, the candles were extinguished.

Then it was time for presents.  And BOY OH BOY were their presents.  We want to thank all of our friends for being so generous, and totally making one little boy's day.  Everyone also got a big kick over the fact that he got a "Potty" for a gift.  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Charles. They all said, they had never seen one given as a gift before.

Luke's friends Tyler and Harrison Monette, along with their parents, were kind enough to make the trip up from Richmond to help him celebrate his big day.

After all the guests were gone, and long after Luke's bedtime, Daddy just couldn't wait to set up one of the presents that we had gotten him.  Father and son had a lot of fun seeing what the race track was all about

I WANT TO THANK
LIGHTING MCQUEEN
FOR MAKING ONE LITTLE BOY
SO VERY HAPPY!!
