I...JUST...CAN'T...SEEM...TO...STAY...AWAKE

Now that Luke is a year old, we are trying to wean him off multiple naps a day. He normally takes two 1-1/2 hour naps, one in the morning starting around 10:30 and one in the afternoon starting around 3:00. A couple times this week we tried one nap starting around 1:00, and hoping it would last at least a couple of hours. So far, both times that we've tried, he's only slept about 1-1/2 and then starts to fall asleep while eating his dinner. I've been able to keep him awake while he eats, but then he's up until 10:00. Oh what to do, what to do?

OUR LIL HUNTER

Hunting season is upon us. Daddy is heading out, this weekend, to hunt for squirrel and fish for trout. So that he won't get lonely at his hunt camp, Mommy and Luke ventured out into our woods and snapped this photo. Daddy can take it with him and put it next to his bunk. Doesn't Luke look ready to scout for local wildlife?

ONE YEAR CHECKUP

This week, Luke had his One Year Checkup with his pediatrician. Dr. Wiley was very pleased with him both developmentally and growth. He's doing very well- hitting milestones when he should, and still doing good in size, even though he is on the tiny side. He is now weighing in at 17lbs, 1oz. and stands 29" tall. The big new thing is EATING. He can now have whole milk rather than formula (Yeah on Mommy's pocketbook), and he can eat pretty much any table food, but still no nuts or honey. So far we've had scrambled eggs (YUM) and steamed mixed vegetables (also YUM). He is a very good self-feeder, so we look forward to trying all kinds of new things.

PRACTICING A NEW SKILL

We had a first today. Luke decided to practice a new skill he learned recently. The skill being "Placing an object into a container". Unfortunately, the object was a toy and the container was the toilet. The toy was a plastic block - letter "H". With the way the block is constructed it was able to take in water. Luke's blocks will now and forever be missing the eighth letter of the alphabet.

LUKE'S 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE my baby boy is One Year Old!!! Where has this past year gone? Everyone says "they grow so fast". Well, PLEASE slow down. He's not a baby now, he's a toddler.

On Thursday, September 11, 2008, Lucien Charles Faucheux turned One. Mommy went in his room bright and early with the video camera to start recording this incredible day.

Daddy made sure he was home from work at lunch so that at 12:33pm, we could sing Happy Birthday to him. After that, we let him open our presents. He got some pajamas, a new Saints outfit, puzzles, and a riding bulldozer, which will hopefully help him with walking. He's very close to being able to accomplish that major milestone.

Party Day

On Saturday, September 13, 2008, Mommy and Daddy had a Birthday party for Luke so that all their neighborhood friends could join in in the celebration of such an incredible little boy turning One.

Mommy put her baking skills to the test in creating this unique Birthday "Cake". By the end of the night, everyone had purple teeth and tongues.

Luke got a big kick out of everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him, but he really liked the candle on his cupcake.

MMMMMMM..... I love Chocolate - or better yet Devil's Food.

Mommy and Daddy couldn't be more proud!!!!! What an amazing little boy. How blessed are we to have this little person come into our life and give us such joy.

Max Daniel Faucheux

To our beloved other son, Luke's twin, Happy Birthday! Mommy, Daddy and your older brother (by 1 minute) love and miss you very much. Did you get the balloon we sent to Heaven for you on Thursday? We watched it soar into the clouds until we couldn't see it anymore. Now that you are our special Guardian Angel, please keep an eye on your brother. He says hello to your picture every morning when he gets out of bed. I think he misses you most, since he knew you best. WE LOVE YOU!!

SUMMER 2008

Well, since I'm new at this, I thought I would do a little catching up for everyone - starting with this past summer.

MAY

Over Memorial Day Weekend, one of our neighbors has a little golfing competition called the "Tom Judy Classic". We made sure Luke was dressed appropriately. Marc scored better the year before - but there's always next year. Kristol was supposed to play, but got hung up on a sleeping/feeding schedule.

We live in a neighborhood on a lake, so we spent some time at the beach, but mostly we enjoyed our boat. That weekend was Luke's first time on it, and he seemed to really enjoy it. Daddy showed him how to drive, which he took to right away. That day, Luke also got to experience some local
wildlife - Mr. & Mrs. Mallard.

JUNE

As the "Lazy Days" of summer began in June, we spent alot of time at the beach. One of the first times that Luke and Mommy went to spend the day, it was right after Luke learned to crawl. Mommy sat Luke on the blanket, started rummaging in the bag for sunscreen, and when she turned around, Luke was crawling like crazy straight towards the water - by the way, he LOVES the water.

Once the middle of June came, and the lake water got warmer, Luke was able to get in the water when we were all out on the boat. We have a special "hanging out" spot across the lake called Pigeon Cove. We usually tie up with a couple other boats and relax and enjoy the day. One of our friends has a grill on his boat, so we can pretty much stay out an entire day wanting for nothing. Mommy bought Luke this really cool little raft so that he could "chill" in the water with the rest of us.

On Saturday of Father's Day weekend, we went up north to visit Marc's dad - PaPa. We wanted to see him before he moved to Texas. We had a very nice visit with him, and we also got to see Aunt Brigitte. Neither one of them had seen Luke in quite awhile, so it was really a treat for them to spend time with him.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Our neighborhood has an annual "Golf-cart" Parade for the Fourth of July. Everyone who owns a golf-cart (which is mostly everyone), gets very patriotic and decorates their cart to the nines for the parade. I think this year they had 38 carts. We all get lined up and then parade through the neighborhood. Amazingly we have quite a few spectators along the parade route.

ROAD TRIP

The weekend after the fourth, we went on a road trip to Indiana. Kristol's parents were driving up from New Mexico, so we wanted to go see them and have Luke meet all his cousins. It was a great weekend. We got to see his cousins, Morgan and Miranda, play softball. We visited Aunt Debbie at her house. We got a big family portrait taken. Then on Saturday, we all got together at Aunt April's house (we were supposed to go to the park, but it was raining). So it was us three, April, Tony, Miranda and Zach, Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Debbie and Jared, Tash, Matt, Morgan and Matthew, Megan, Cole, and A.J. It was definitely a full house. Luckily, later in the afternoon, the sun came out, and we all went out in the front yard and made ice cream by putting some ingredients in ziploc bags and tossing the bags back and forth - AMAZINGLY it works. It was SO great to see everyone. We miss you guys and wish we could see you more!!

Luke with Matthew - Luke is 4.5mos. older than Matthew.

Proud Grandparents!!

On our way home from Indiana, we took a detour through Kentucky and visited our friends the Rudacille's. They moved from Virginia to Kentucky last October, so we haven't seen a whole lot of them in the last few months. They have twin girls who are 10mos. older than Luke. The three of them had a blast playing together. Emmy and Lani couldn't keep their hands off of him. They just kept covering him with kisses. It was so cute. While we were there, we all went for a walk to see some horses and the kids took a ride in the wagon.

It was a very short visit, but we hope to get back to see them once their new baby boy arrives.

AUGUST

As the "Dog Days" of summer began, we traveled to DC to celebrate our Third wedding anniversary. We decided to take Luke to visit some of the amazing Smithsonian museums. The day was very long, but enjoyable. Luke did incredibly well considering he was in a stroller most of the time. We also had our Bjourn carrier, so he got a little different perspective of the world around him for short periods of time. He got cranky a couple of times - but overall / as always / he was a GOOD baby. While there we also got to visit Luke's Godparents, Shaun & Azeb Bourgeois. Shaun is a childhood friend of Marcs. They met us at the Art Museum, and then we all went out for an incredible dinner. It was a perfect couple of days.

Luke with his Godparents

The following weekend, we enticed Shaun and Azi to come down for a "Day on the Water". They came on Sunday, and we spent they day on our boat in our special cove. It ended up being the last time we used the boat for the season, and it turned out to be an awesome day.

You don't think Luke is influenced at all by the adults.

SEPTEMBER

Labor Day weekend is always bittersweet, because it's always a great time at the beach with our friends, but we also know it's a long time until next summer. Sunday night one of our friends had a "Jimmy Buffet - Margaritaville" party at the beach, so it was a great way to end the summer.
