A LITTLE LANDSCAPING

So, we've now lived in this house for seven years this coming July. And, as you all know, our house is for sale, which makes it the perfect time and gives the perfect reason to finally do a little landscaping.

A couple of weekends ago, Marc went and got a couple of truck loads of black mulch, and created this nice large mulch bed at the front of the house.
He used the stones that we had originally used around Max's garden, and created a nice little retaining wall and border.

Our friend, Jim Usas, gave the boys the little Cardinal Whirly-gig.

My favorite part is the stacked stone retaining wall.

Right after I took the above shot, I looked over and saw this...
Right after I captured this mid-stream shot, a line of cars came over that hill in the distance. I tried to explain to him that he needs to face AWAY from the road when he's doing his business. He usually picks a tree... I don't know what possessed him to drop trough right out in the open.

MONSTER TRUCK

Look what Luke drew?

This is the first thing he's drawn that actually looks like the subject.

Way to go Luke!!!

A LITTLE BIT OF SPRING

Today, FINALLY, we had a Beautiful, Spring like Day. It was like 50 degrees when we woke up rather than 30 degrees - YAY! It wasn't cloudy - YAY! It got up to almost 70 - YAY! And, it WASN'T windy - YAY, YAY, YAY!!

Marc and Luke went to church and Grey and I went to Walmart - needed diapers, and while there, got a CUTE little, white sun dress.

When we all got home, we loaded up in the old Chevy truck and headed down to the fishin' hole.

All Grey wanted to do was throw rocks in the water.
Before leaving, Marc had gone to get bait, but also got Luke a new fishing pole, so Grey could use his old one from last year. But wouldn't you know, Luke wouldn't have any of that. He wanted to use his little "Cars" pole. He doesn't have the patience he did last year - all he wanted to do was reel it in.
Grey would occasionally take a break from throwing rocks, and check in on what Daddy and Big Brother were up to.
While Luke was distracted, Grey was able to get in a little fishing with the "Cars" pole.
But he was also content to watch from the sidelines.
Fishing lasted for all of about 25 minutes... then we headed over to the play area.

It was a Beautiful day to be outside.

BATTING PRACTICE

I'm sure you all remember my recent post where I made the suggestion that Grey might have a future career as a Plumber (based on his visible crack). Well, if plumbing doesn't pan out for him, he might also look into becoming a Professional Baseball Player.

I took these photos and video the other night, while he and Marc were having Batting Practice. Now note in these photos, that he is hitting an Actual baseball, which weighs probably four times more than the plastic ball that goes with this little t-ball set. This is the t-ball set that we bought for Luke the summer of '08. It's actually a little too short for Grey, so once we set up the one the boys got for Christmas from Santa, he's really going to be able to go to town... outside of course.

He has the perfect set up...
and follow through.
checking with Daddy for approval.
The hat's off now, so he must be getting really serious, or he was having a hard time seeing.
Setting the ball...
and it's a good hit.
Trying for another swing...
WOW what a hit!!! He hit with such force, the stand is off the floor.

This video is a two parter. The first part was taken sometime late last summer when he first started playing. The second part was taken the other night. I apologize for the poor quality, but the lighting in our house at night is really bad.

I think Grey really has a future in sports.

UNSOLICITED HELP

I have a big custom order that I'm working on for my Etsy shop, so I have a lot of sewing to do. In order to do it without staying up to all hours of the night, I've had to bring my sewing machine downstairs and work during the day.

Could be a big mistake!?! It seems I have acquired some unsolicited help.
Yup, he climbed right up on the table.
Making sure it's threaded correctly...

Of course, big brother couldn't be left out... so more help ensued.

At least its "Cute" Unsolicited Help.

These pics were taken with an old Point and Shoot I have. It was the closest camera. Sorry for the poor quality.

WISHING FOR SNOW

I think Grey is the only person in the country who is wishing for more snow. He dug these out of his closet yesterday and wanted to wear them. Since he's only gotten to wear them once since he got them for Christmas, I happily put them on him.

JUST CATCHING UP...

So the month of February was busy, but now that I think back, I don't know what we were busy doing. I just know, I didn't take a whole lot of pics... well at least not after the middle of the month. I started off strong at the beginning with my "Joy of Love" photography class, but after the eleventh day of that, my subject (Marc) was always M.I.A. I have the list of the rest of the assignments, and plan on completely them soon.

Anyway... I do have some miscellaneous pics to share.

This one was taken at the end of January. It was a snow day here, and the snowflakes were HUGE. I took it out my bedroom window trying to capture the size of the flakes.

The rest of the pics are of the boys, which I know, is what y'all are more interested in.

With our house set up for "Selling", we now store a large Rubbermaid bin (acting as a toy box) under the stairs. Grey likes to climb up on it so he can get a better view of our DVD collection.

A couple of close ups in black and white

Grey is ALL teeth. It's funny how different Grey's teeth are from Luke's. Luke's teeth are like tiny little Chicklets, were Grey's are more normal looking. He definitely LOVES to show them off.

The Electrical Tape Fairy is also responsible for this....

The boys were in their room one afternoon jumping on their beds. However, Luke was in the crib and Grey was on the bed. I didn't actually get action shots of the jumping, but I got a couple of cute ones, especially of them yelling.

Can you imagine how loud that scream was?

Then he becomes my Angel!

Got this great one of Luke out on the swingset practicing his "Superman" dive into the swing. Gotta love the HUGE trail of snot coming out of his left nostril

The other night, our bed seemed to have something in it. What could it be?

Hope y'all had a nice February and are looking forward to March bringing warmer weather like we are.

MY NEW CALENDAR

Last week over at Somewhat Simple's Linky Party I saw a post by Autie at iCandy Handmade, where she was sharing her Cookie Sheet Calendar. I have been seeing these since last fall, especially around Christmas when they were done as Advent Calendars. I don't know what it was about her's, but I was Totally Inspired to run right out and get the supplies to make one.

Here's my version...
Like stated in the Title of this Post - this was a Project of Firsts. This was my FIRST Modge Podge Project!! Can you believe that? I know - what the heck took me SOO LONG? And, this was my first time to use the glue E600. I think I'm a fan.
I got the 13" X 9" cookie sheet at the Dollar Tree for... wait for it... $1.00. Well, that's not suprising - EVERYTHING at that store is a Dollar. LOVE that store.
I used seven coordinating papers in Black and White, and cut out the Chartruese numbers and letters on my Cricut.
I used velcro rather than magnets - mostly due to cost - velcro... WAY cheaper!

I LOVE that it can be used year after year, you just have to switch up the numbers.

Thanks Autie for answering all my questions, and helping me make this Fabulously Stunning Cookie Sheet Calendar. Go Here to see Autie's Inspiration!

I think I'm going to whip up a few and sell them this summer at our local Farmer's Market.
