A LITTLE BIRTHDAY BASEBALL...

MAY - 2012

We started celebrating Grey's Third Birthday a couple of days
early, by going to a Richmond Flying Squirrels game.

The souvenir baseballs that the boys received
 scenes from the ball park

just love this shot
Grey was not into sharing his popcorn.
So ready to catch a fly ball.
Daddy and his Mini...

We had so much fun, and can't wait to go to another game.

MOTHER'S TEA...

MAY - 2012

Again this year, Luke's pre-school held their
annual Mother's Tea in honor of Mother's Day.
I was able to sit pretty close to the front
this time, so my pictures are a little better.

Do you think Luke grew a little this year?
 Check out those high-waters!

At least he participated in this program...
however, is he behind or ahead of the beat?
He seems to be the only one belting out a note!

At the tea, one of the other mother's at our table
was kind enough to snap this shot of us.
So Love my Little Luke!

RANDOM BEAUTY...

MAY - 2012

some more random beautiful things
from our new yard.

my favorite flower...
we went out looking for the light one evening...
always drive past these horses, when we take the
back way home from town.  finally stopped to take their pictures.
we've seen this little guy twice this spring
just amazing...

CAJUN YANKEE CO-OP 2ND ANNUAL CRAWFISH BOIL

May - 2012

May 5th of this year was a big day.
Of course, it was Cinco de Mayo,
and 138th running of the Kentucky Derby.
But most of all,
it was the 2nd Annual
Cajun Yankee Co-op Crawfish Boil -
hosted by us and our neighbors, Jim & Bonnie.

The week before, Bonnie and I painted
this sign for this special event.
Aren't the boys just too cute?
They're getting so good at posing for me!

Marc had quite the set up this year
The all Important main Ingredient
The hosts, Marc & Jim
the Three Musketeers - Jim, Marc & Keith
Everyone pitch in their share for this amazing feast
Now that's a serious pot
another Important Ingredient
The Guests of Honor
While waiting for the first batch to be ready,
a little friendly betting took place...
on the First Annual Crawfish Races
the boys checking out the crawfish
the guests also enjoyed quite a few
games of Ladder Ball
(or at least that's what I think it's called)
Dinner's ready...
The boys were more interested
in playing with their food
rather than eating their food
the cooked crawfish truly gave them hours of fun
... and then the rains came
and came...
and came!
eventually Grey tuckered out
and took his nap with his
new little friend
by the end of the day, the boys were so
concerned about their new little
friends, that they thought
if they went swimming they
would feel better
(remember, their little friends have been cooked)

Even though it rained, Everyone truly
enjoyed themselves and are all looking forward to the
3rd Annual Cajun Yankee Co-op Crawfish Boil

MORE RANDOM...

Just some more random things from the last couple of weeks...

One evening while taking a walk with the boys, I heard Luke say he was going to look for a walking stick.  When I didn't hear him after a while, I turned around to check on him, and he said... "look Momma, I'm a deer."
He had taken two small branches that looked like antlers and held them up to his head.  Of course, I didn't have my camera on the walk, so I had him re-enact the moment the following morning.

One morning when Marc went in to wake the boys, he found Grey covered in dried blood.  It was all over his pajamas, and there was a some dried on his face, forehead and running up into his scalp.
Upon investigation we found a nice sized gash on his head, that Luke admitted to causing by hitting him with a metal car.  Amazing that when it happened the previous night, while they were "going to bed", that Grey did not come screaming for me.  It looked worse than it was and has healed quite nicely.

As of late, Grey wants to do EVERYTHING his self, including getting dressed and undressed.  It definitely frees up some time for me, but it also means that my baby is growing up.  One evening, I told the boys that they needed to go get ready for bed, which meant, they needed to go get their pajamas on.  When it seemed to be taking longer than normal, I went to check on them...
I found Grey, 1). naked, attempting to put on his night shirt
(if you look closely, you can see that the shirt is upside down),
and 2). he was standing IN the TOP DRAWER of their dresser.
How the drawer did not break or the dresser not tip over, I'll never know.

On a rainy Monday afternoon, I made a batch of
homemade Dark Chocolate Chip & Almond Granola.
After mixing all the ingredients together, it needs to set up for 2 hours at room temperature.  Grey was not waiting very patiently. Pretty much every 10 minutes, he would ask me if it was ready,
and then he would check on it his self.
Love how he's using his tippy toes to support his self on the cabinet door.  Eventually, he came up with a better plan...
He went and got his Playskool Barn and used it as a stool.
Much better vantage point this way.

Last weekend, before the soccer games, the boys needed haircuts.  We decided that it was time for Grey to get the "Fade", in other words, the "Bad Boy" haircut.  We call it that, because the first time Luke got this cut, he immediately  started misbehaving.  I'm sure Grey will live up it's reputation.

After the cut, I just had to post, on Facebook, a Collage of
how much Grey has changed since last fall.

I don't why it seems this house has different wildlife than our old house, but it does.  This week, while going about the task of moving our woodpile, I came up this little guy, who was hanging out in the tarp we had covering the pile.
The day before the lizard spotting, we saw this crazy looking bug.  It was sitting on our back stoop railing, seemingly watching every move we made.
What the heck is it?

The day I moved all the wood, it was pretty hot, and I wanted to keep the boys preoccupied.  I didn't want them trying to "help" me move the wood, just in case I encountered any copperheads, so I set up their pool and slide.
For literally 3 hours they played in the freezing water, getting out over and over again to go down the slide.
I think they had fun, and if the next photos are any indication, I think they totally wore themselves out.

Before fixing dinner, I took a shower, and when I came back downstairs, this is where I found Grey... asleep on his bar stool.
Just another chapter added to his "I can sleep anywhere" journal.
