PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIP

It's that time of year again... School Field Trip time. Just like last year, Luke's pre-school went to the Belvedere Plantation Pumpkin Patch.
One Great thing about this year, was that Marc and Grey got to go with us. One Sucky thing about this year, the weather was not all that great at the start of the day.

Last year, Luke and I went on this field trip, and then as a family we also went to a Pumpkin Patch close to our house. Unfortunately, we went too late in the season, and there were hardly any pumpkins to choose from. So this year, we thought we would kill two birds with one stone and make Luke's school field trip our family trip also.

We decided to meet the group there, rather than join the caravan, so we arrived before they did. While we waited, I was able to get this shot of the boys. They actually both looked at me at the same time.
Eventually we were loaded up on the Hay Ride and on our way to the Pumpkin Patch. It absolutely poured on the short little ride to the field.
Both Luke and Grey were pretty excited to go pick out their own pumpkins.

The field they took us to was filled with little pumpkins, which was perfect for all the little people (not so great for carving later).
Poor Grey had such a hard time walking around. He couldn't lift his little legs high enough to clear all the vines, so he kept tripping and falling down.
This pumpkin that Luke is sitting on, is not the one he selected, but I had to try get the same type of pic I got of him last year.
Once we were back at the barn, and awaiting instruction on where we were to go next, Luke and his BFF Lucas, entertained themselves with a wheelbarrow.
Next up was the "Learning" session. Just like last year, the kids learned about Pollination. Luke and his classmates, Illyana and Talena look to be listening intently.
Then it was time to pretend to be a Bumble Bee and help pollinate the flowers. Last year, each kid was given a little set of wings. This year, Luke had to make his own wings by flapping his arms.
Grey's looking for a piece of pollen in the flower, but there weren't anymore. Luckily, one little girl who had taken more than one, came back and gave Grey one.
After learning about Bumble Bees, we went to the little Petting Zoo. Grey was quite taken with this goat.
And that was it. We had the rest of the afternoon to ourselves. We had packed a lunch, so we grabbed a picnic table and sat down to eat. Luke's Special friend, Laci, joined us along with her Mom and little brother, Blake.
Luke could not eat fast enough. All he wanted to do was go play in the designated Play area. He and Lucas both, headed straight for the Trikes.
He rode around and around and around that little track, like a hundred times.
While Luke was busy training for the Tour de France, Grey checked out the Horsey Tire Swings.
In the middle of the play area, were these beautiful Sunflowers.
Eventually, I was able to tear Luke away from the Trikes and convinced him to go down the pipe slide. Here they both are waiting in line for their turn.
I Absolutely LOVE this shot I got of Grey as he neared the bottom of the slide. The Memory that will always come to mind when I look at this picture, is that it took him FOREVER to slide the length of the pipe. The tube was maybe 30' long, and it took it about two minutes to get to the bottom. As you can see behind him, the next kid in line is anxiously awaiting their turn.
After they had their fun in the Play Area, it was time to go home. On the way out, we stopped for a couple more pictures...

and we let them play on the big Spider Web for a while.
They boys LOVED this. Again here's Luke and his BFF Lucas.
No matter how many times I asked the boys to look at me, it just wasn't happening.

It was a Great school Field Trip, and a Great Family Fun Day.
