CARTER MOUNTAIN...

OCTOBER - 2012

This year, we thought we'd try something new.
Maybe start a new tradition...
We went to Carter Mountain Orchard.
It's just east of Charlottesville, so not very far away.
We planned on picking some apples
and getting our pumpkins for Halloween.

When we got there, even though we were early,
(though not early enough), it was all ready CROWDED.
Rather than pay to take a hayride up into the orchard,
we decided to walk.  It really wasn't all that far,
just all up hill.  Amazingly, the boys did really well.

They absolutely loved the idea of being able to pick
their own apples.  Being young, they didn't exactly follow
the directions we were given on how to
correctly "pick" the fruit.  But regardless, they did a good job!

A view of the farm below from up in the orchard.

The apples were beautiful!

The boys with some of their loot...

Marc enjoyed picking too...

Back at the farm, the boys were all about
getting their pictures taken in the Worm Head

I think our first trip to Carter Mountain was a success, even
though we didn't get any pumpkins.  While there,
we decided we'd get them when the boys both
went to the Pumpkin Patch with their schools.

The boys enjoyed snacking on the apples
they just picked.

Carter Mountain Orchard...
definitely a tradition to continue!!
