SOMETHING NEW FOR THE BOY'S ROOM

Yesterday, just to get out of the house, we took the boys to Bass Pro Shop to have lunch and see the fish. But of course, we also had to do a little shopping.

This is what we got...
A Stuffed Animal Deer Head.
We got it for the boys room so that they could have a Deer Head just like Daddy's.
There was also a Moose Head, and if it weren't for the price ($30) I would have liked to have both of them.
Isn't it great?

I think it's the perfect addition to their room.

OUR EARLY MORNING VISITOR

*WARNING... this post may not be suitable for all audiences.

This morning started out as any other Wednesday morning. I got up before the boys so I could take a shower, while Marc was still snoozing in a little. When I got out of the shower, I could hear the boys were up.

Over the course of the next 30 minutes, this is what happened.

I could hear Luke continually saying something about a mouse. When I opened the door to their room, the wicker storage box that is stored under the crib, has been slid out to the middle of the room, and Luke is pointing under the crib and saying there is a mouse. I bend down and peer under the crib and see a terry-cloth sports wrist band near the baseboard. I think... "how cute, he's using his imagination and is pretending it's a mouse". I then go back to getting ready. Then I hear..."wittle mouse, where awe you?". Marc hears it too, and asks me if there really is a mouse. I say no, they're just pretending. At one point, Luke comes in our bedroom, and I ask Luke what the mouse looks like. He says... " it's weal small", and bends down to show me the size. He then goes back in his room, and I continue to get ready. Then we hear both boys excitedly squealing about the mouse. We can hear Grey jumping up and down in the crib. Eventually, I'm dressed, and Marc is getting up at about this same time. He heads into the boys room before I can get there, to get Grey out of his crib to change his diaper... and I hear him say... "the boys weren't kidding. There's a mouse in here".

I come into the room behind and Marc, and sitting in the middle of the rug, is this...
It's just sitting there. Don't mice usually hide? It slowly moves to under the rocking chair, and I tell Marc he has to catch it. I tell him, I think it will be easy because it appears to be injured and not moving to quickly (obviously, because it's not hiding). I tell him he can't kill it... the boys can't see something like that. So while he's getting something to "catch" it with, I get Grey out of the crib and put the boys in their chairs at the dining room table. Marc goes in with a broom and a dust pan. He yells out... "No, it's at full speed!" I can hear him trying to swat it and pin it with the broom. Then he tells me to bring him a paper plate. I take one to him, and as I'm handing it to him, I look over his shoulder and can see that he has the mouse trapped under the dust pan - it's little tail is sticking out. He used the paper plate to scoop it up and carry it outside. As he's walking to the front door, he tells me there is a little blood on the rug. He didn't think he killed it, but he wasn't sure. But as he threw it over the deck railing, he commented that if it wasn't dead already, it would be when a bird got a hold of it.

I attempted to clean up the "scene of the accident", but a stain was left behind.

After dropping Luke off at school, I came home and set up this little scene for photo purposes only.

Who would have thought, that I would have to replace the boy's white rug because of an unfortunate accident. I would have guessed spilled juice or paint.

The sad thing, is that Marc thought that maybe our little visitor was pregnant due to it being fatter than usual. That would maybe explain why it wasn't running and hiding.

To our little visitor, if you survived being hit with a broom, being thrown of the deck, and not being caught by a bird.... we're sorry for all the trauma you endured this morning. If you did not survive... we're deeply sorry and may you Rest In Peace.

HIS FIRST PURCHASE

I had to run to the Dollar store today, so before we left, we checked Luke's "Earning" jar to see if he had enough money to buy something. He had $1.50... enough for a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car.

Let me explain the "Earning" jar. I got this idea from comments I received on Facebook when I posted about my Super Secret "H2O" drink. Someone told me that they used to give money to their son if he would stay in his bed at night... Lightbulb moment!! We told Luke that every time he would stay in his bed at night and every time he pooped on the potty, he would be given a quarter. The bed thing has worked out far better than the potty thing, but we're still working on that.

So with his six quarters, we headed off to the Dollar store.

He was very proud of himself, walking out of the store with his little bag and some change in his pocket.

SUNDAY MORNING...

It snowed during the night. Seriously? Last weekend I was in shorts... this weekend requires snow boots.

As soon as the word snow came out of my mouth, Grey headed for the closet to get his Snow Boots.
Then he went and got Luke's...
Even though, we have yet to go outside, they are wearing their Snow Boots... Preparation is Key.

While they were playing, I tried to get some close up shots. Practicing with my new lens and utilizing the good light.

When I got out of the shower, I found all three boys busy at work...
They were building block towers to crash cars into.

Luke taking his turn...
and Grey taking his.
The shots above were taken from the loft. I then came downstairs to get a different view.

The Tower and the Safety Wall is built...

Now for the action!!!

What an Action Shot!!

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW... WHAT HAPPENED?

It's the END of March...

It SNOWED...

Outside my window...

Looks DIFFERENT

My little Spring Blossoms blend into the background.

FIRST HAIRCUT... NUMBER 2

So Today was the BIG Day... Grey got his First Haircut. For me, it was the Last Day of Babyhood. As much as it pained me, we had to do something about his out of control natural Mullet.

The Baby Curls had to go.... sob! sob!
Unlike Luke, Grey was not a fan. He kept reaching for "DaDa". How Becky actually got it cut, I'll never know.

This picture pretty much says it all.
Once "Dada" picked him up when it was over, he was fine.
Then, he was more fine, when he found out he got a sucker.

My Baby No More... (still... sob! sob!)

FIELD TRIP TO THE FIRE STATION

Yesterday, Luke's school had a field trip to the local Fire Station.

Since the Fire Station is literally "just up the street", we all walked there. When Marc, Grey and I arrived, Luke's class was lining up. Most all the other kids were lining up with their parents so the parent would be their "hand-holding" buddy. But not Luke. As his teacher, Miss Angie, put it... "he's got Laci, so he's good".
Still... are they not the cutest couple you've ever seen? Look at their little hands holding on to each other.

Along with Miss Angie, Luke and Laci led the group as we crossed the street. Local Law Enforcement was there to help stop traffic.
Here was our destination... The Mineral Fire & Rescue Station.
The first thing they did, was to all come in and sit down, and learn about what to do if they caught on fire. Do you remember? Stop. Drop. Roll. Luke looks so enthused with his chin resting in his hand (he's in the middle at the front).
Then one of the firefighters got into all of his gear, so that the kids would see what he would look like if he was coming into their house to rescue them from a fire. They emphasized to the children to not hide and to not be afraid of the Fireman.
Then Smokey the Bear showed up. He's talking to Grey before the bombardment of all the pre-schoolers. Side Note... Luke wanted nothing to do with him.
Then they let the kids climb into the Ambulance and look around. I think Luke took 3 or 4 turns.
Next, they got to explore and learn about the Fire Trucks.
Beau and Luke are checking out the "Whirly" lights on one of the trucks.

Luke checking out the underside of the bell, because he just didn't understand where the ringing sound was coming from. He never did figure out he could just pull the string.
The last truck, they opened up so the kids could climb up inside.
At that point, Luke became what I called a "Truck Hog". Everytime, I looked for him, he was in the driver seat.

Mineral Firestation... very fun Field Trip. So glad we could all be there with Luke.
